It is my intention to meet passionate people; to learn about what inspires them and to collaborate to create effective visual experiences.

Elizabeth Ashby Benedetto is trained as a Visual Designer with a strong foundation in design thinking, typography & color theory.

The attraction to of creating images came at an early age because Liz grew up in a house with a darkroom. As a teenager, days and nights blended as she spent hours studying the craft — the elegant contrast between black + white, the techniques to control exposure & the options of film speed and paper textures. Around the same time, her father purchased an Apple II Plus computer and her curiosity expands to computer. She was drawn to print design at a vocational print class offered at Evanston Township High School; the simple texture of paper … the craftsmanship of printing techniques and typography. During high school, she worked at a LetterPress print shop in Evanston… initially taking out the trash but eventually was allowed to run a press.

Liz is a both “creative" and has business business sense. Her professional career started at OWP&P an architectural firm. Initially a Public Relations Manager later a Marketing Coordinator and later Business Development for Higher Education projects. She loved her work and employer but knew it was time to dedicate time to her true passion. She was accepted at The School of the Art Institute Post Baccalaureate Visual Communication program. After completion, she worked at a small design boutique in Chicago. After a couple of years, Liz worked at Hewitt Associates where initially she managed their Model Print Campaign. She was then promoted within Hewitt to the Creative Design and Human Factors Group where she was introduced to UI /UX design, to creating wireframes, defining personnas, drafting visual designs for web applications to ultimately designing an intuitive engaging application

Ashby, Inc (Liz’s middle name) was founded over 12 years ago with a commitment to creative exploration + curiosity. She is driven to continue to chase the spark that happens when you discover something new or collaborate with a client to create something truly exceptional. Ashby’s clients range in industry, size and scope yet each one is valuable.

As a Trustee for the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation Board, Liz serves as the Communication Chairperson. The Foundation is committed to enhancing educational programming for students of the Barrington 220 School District. Liz believes in the mission of the Foundation and is committed to serving the district where her children attend school.

This Irish girl who married an Italian boy is as stubborn as ever; she is constantly looking for projects that inspire & challenge her creatively.

WHY ASHBY?

Ashby is Liz’s middle name given to her in honor of her paternal grandmother’s maiden name — As a child, when asked her middle name, she simply declared that she didn’t have one because “ASHBY” was different and she didn’t know anyone who had that name — the same reason why she embraces the name today.
